Gravel & Stone
River Rock
River rock is naturally tumbled stone in mixed earth tones. Its smooth, rounded shape and varied sizing give beds and creek features an organic look that manufactured gravel cannot match.
What it is used for
- Dry creek beds and water features
- Bed borders and tree surrounds
- Drainage areas that stay visible
- Pond and pool edging
Depth & coverage
Recommended depth
3 inches for decorative cover; more in drainage channels.
Coverage
One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep.
Installation tips
- 1Vary stone sizes and cluster them for a natural streambed look.
- 2Rounded rock rolls out of flat beds. Give it a defined edge or a shallow dish.
- 3Landscape fabric underneath keeps clay from working up through the stone.
